Install Klystor 0.7.1 — installation guide

Klystor is in beta: its packages are not yet signed with a publisher certificate, so your system will show a warning on first launch. This is expected; the steps for each system are below.

macOS

macOS 11 Big Sur or later · Intel and Apple Silicon

Open the downloaded .dmg file.
Drag Klystor to the Applications folder.
On first launch, right-click the app, choose Open, and confirm with Open.
macOS will ask for access to your folders (Documents, Desktop…) when you scan them.

Windows

Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit

With the installer (recommended)

Run Klystor_0.7.1_x64-setup.exe.
If SmartScreen shows “Windows protected your PC”, click More info, then Run anyway.
Klystor appears in the Start menu. To uninstall it: Settings › Apps.

Portable version, no installation

Unzip the .zip file.
Run Klystor.exe, keeping WebView2Loader.dll in the same folder.

The WebView2 web engine is already included in Windows 11. On Windows 10, the installer downloads it if missing; with the portable version, install it from Microsoft’s website if the app does not open.

Linux

Any distribution, no installation

chmod +x Klystor_0.7.1_amd64.AppImage && ./Klystor_0.7.1_amd64.AppImage

The .deb and .rpm packages install their dependencies (WebKitGTK) themselves; the AppImage bundles them. Install lsof so Klystor can detect open files before deleting them.

Verify a download

The SHA-256 checksum guarantees that the file you received is exactly the one published. Download SHA256SUMS.txt to the same folder as the file, then:

macOS and Linux

shasum -a 256 -c SHA256SUMS.txt --ignore-missing

Windows (PowerShell)

Get-FileHash .\Klystor_0.7.1_x64-setup.exe

On Windows, compare the result with the matching line in SHA256SUMS.txt.

AI assistant (optional)

Explanations and plain-language search use Claude. They stay off until you turn them on. To use them, put a .env file containing ANTHROPIC_API_KEY=… in Klystor’s data folder:
